Club Night 22/11/17

November 23, 2017

Welcome one and all to the blog and a look at last nights menu of talent.

I slipped into the graveyard slot with a cheeky little instrumental called 'Changing title' because  it does.

Geoff was next up for it and as ever takes us back to where there were real tunes that were a modest three minites long. We had some by, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Bee Gees and World without love by Peter and Gordon.

We had a partial eclipsed Sunrise tonight with one of the trio missing. They gave Joville. and Greenhills by the sea.

Up came Ted and Anne plus footapping tunes on accordians and flute. Haven't seen them since August so good to have them back. We had Scottish reels, Lord Franklin, and Stepping Out Mary.

The Bard of Beddington was with us in a different guise as he has a crook arm at present so he gave us three poems about, Yellow Lines, Annabelle, and the enigmatic 'Back Answers to'. Seeing Tony perform standing was a first.

On came Aidan and Vicky clutching a handful of instruments and we had songs about Nancy, Grace (the first of the evening) and tunes about California. All good stuff.

Polly plus her Auto Harp (it should have a name) Suggestions welcome !! We had a bit of Donavan, San Francisco Bay Blues and Abilene. Lovely sound from the unnamed Autoharp.

Welcome S&M back into the fold, it's been too long. We had a moody 'Do You Wanna Dance, Don't know why, and an old favourite 'Melting Pot' Good to see you back in the action.

Nick was next and Gave us the beautiful .Tom Tiddler's Ground, (Roy Harper). One of Nick's own 'Praise be' and the most excellent ' Life's a long Song'. Not easy to do Jethro Tull songs and Nick really pulled it off, the song that is. Lovely guitar playing all through !!

Keychange was next with a song called 'Either way'  with Dave pulling off some tricky guitar bits. He was joined by Carole and Chris the Bass with Carole singing 'Hell on Heels' and Keychange finished with 'Sloop John B.

Banjo Alex minus banjo but plus Ipad, gave us 'Before the next teardrop Falls,Will ye go Lassie Go, and the nippy 'It dosn't matter anymore' Nice one Alex

Golden Tonsils was next and gave us the 'The Mary Ellen Carter' which Tony picked up from Two Coats Colder last Friday, Excellent song and really given the GT treatment. We then had How Sensitive and 'Sweet Surrender'.

Finally we had Dean who we have not seen for a while. Good to see you back Dean. Dean gave us an old favourite 'Way too Long'  and a new composition called 'Grace' Good stuff all round.

Well done one and all and thanks for coming we would look silly if you didn't !! As ever correct any errors at the bottom of the blog.
