Club Night 30/1/19

January 31, 2019

Welcome to the blog. It was a chilly old night at Lime Meadow with a few hardy souls turning out. Nevertheless the music was as good as ever. Our evening was a tad shorter than usual due the threat of inclement weather.

Diamond Neil was in the graveyard slot and opened with Margaritaville followed up by yours truly with an instrumental 'Brendan' plus Freight Train and 'Down To Deep'.

The Silver Fox was next and picked his way through 'Last thing on my Mind', Bob Dylan's dream and yes of course he slipped a Ralphie in called 'Still in Dreams', particularly good picking on this one.

Aidan and myself were next and we played Great North Run/Sussex Cotillion' followed by 'Foxhunters Jig/ Atholl Highlanders, all good foot tapping stuff on guitar and banjo.

GT was next with a good selection of songs.( No themes for a while). We had  'Run for Home',' Suddenly' and 'When all yer got is a hammer, a cracking song. I'll be requesting that one again in the future.

Geoff was next and got us singing with 'Night has a thousand eyes, 'Love on the Rocks' (painfull!) and 'Coward of the County. Gibson sounding good.

We had Country Carole up next for a song which was 'Honey Honey Kiss Me, ably supported by GT. Good song should have done more !!.

Pluto Swint's Rubber band were next and the overall sound is getting better and better. We had 'Let your Love flow', 'Fings', 'Rosewood Fair' and 'Galway Girl'. always a cracker.

We had a while left so the Silver Fox sang 'And I love you so' I sang ''Girl from the North Country' Geoff gave us 'No Cane on the Braxas' (? spelling), GT gave us 'Adios' and Diamond finished us with some tasty guitar.
