Club Night 13/2/19

February 14, 2019

Welcome one and all to the blog. A good crowd and plenty of players though a tad rushed trying to fit everybody in. Here's a flavour of the evening:

I was in the graveyard slot and gave you Airport song. A song about an Airport.

The Silver Fox was next and as usual we were not disappointed we had John Prine and John Denver amongst others.

Electric Graham was next and gave us Tonights the Night, a Rod the Mod number we also had 'How long" has this been going on?

On came Geoff with an emotive 'Green Beret' and a very interesting song called 'Little Boy Lost'. Geoff told us a good story about the song.

V&A gave us The Common People, a couple of Jigs and an accidently found 'Lemon Tree".

Les the Eagle was with us and as usual wowed us with three great songs in three different tunings. Magic !! Dust Devil was a belter.

Don had a DIY theme tonight, a first for Lime Meadow.Of course 'This Old House 'was in there but so was, DIY Blues well played and well written by Don.Is he any good at DIY Jackie ?

GT was next armed with a Gordon Lightfoot theme. Early morning rain is a fave of mine. I hadn't heard 'Song for a Winters Night' before. 'I suggested GT listened to 'Talking in Your Sleep' a lesser known Lightfoot song.

Pluto Swint's Rubber Band took to the stage getting tighter than a Gnat's Chuff by the week. Highwayman was a cracker a fave of Vickys as well, I think.. City of New Orleans gave us a good chance to sing.

Charlie and Ron gave us a bit of Etta James, and Piano man, I love Ron's harmonica. Anita joined Ronnie on stage and gave us 'Back home Again and 'Let the Mystery be'

Stefan was the penultimate act with Northern songs a plenty and stories to tell. Camden Town was a good number.

Sunrise finished the evening with Bunch of Thyme and Lying Eyes.

Sorry to Andy ( and Neil )  who didn't get on as we run out of time.

Don't forget check Dave's videos on line who gives you all the songs warts and all !!

Self Penned Songs
