Club Night 13/3/19
Welcome to the blog. A windy old night with our numbers down a tad but we all got to play four songs which can't be bad. Here is an overview of the proceedings.
I was languishing in the graveyard slot and began with a song with odd lyrics 'What shall we tell them ?' and 'Wish I hadn't stayed away so long'. A particular fave of mine by Guy Davis (look him up)
Paul was back in the fold with his Alice Cooper theme. No snake or macabre make-up though. He gave us Hello Hooray and No more Mr Nice guy. Good to see you back Paul.
The Silver Fox arrived and did not disappoint with Still in there and a bit of Ralph 'Still in Dreams'. Loves a bit of Ralph does Keith.
GT We had 'Rainy Day People' and 'Dance me to the end of love' in GT's crystal clear delivery. Slipped in a few key changes as well did GT. Talking in you sleep is the Gordon Giltrap song I suggested you look at Tony.
Dean was with us after a long leave of abscence and played us two of his own, I lay here waiting and Wonderland all quietly and effectively delivered.
Shy Eddy was the next up for it and Eddy gave us 'My Blue Heaven' and 'Your sixteen and your beautiful. Some excellent chords and lead work were to be enjoyed.
Stefan was with us along with his wonderfully mellow acoustic instrument. We had Stefan usual Northern tinged songs. I missed the title of the first and the second was 'Wrong Bus'.
Electric Graham was next up and gave us 'Sorrow' , well it wasn't that bad ! and 'the smokey bluesy 'Need your love so bad'.
Up came Pluto Swint's Rubber Band in fine form and gave Fields of Athenry, Take me to the Limit and Sloop John B with an array of harmonies from the audience. Sorry missed one of the songs titles.
Diamond Neil stepped up to the plate and gave us 'Just a song before I go', in fact he didn't go and gave us another song.
Most of us got up and gave a couple more songs. As I always mention you can look and listen to the evening in more detail on Dave's most excellent videos on the web site.
Self Penner tonight:
Half self penner
Shy Eddy (he added a few new lyrics to a song)
Thanks all for coming and your help.
See you in two weeks.
