Club Night 4th December 19
Welcome to the blog. Battle between the cold and the heating system and i'd call it a draw. 13 'acts' tonight including a duo and a trio. Here's an overview of the evening.
I was in the graveyard slot tonight and played an old social protest song called It's a funny old World and slipped in a quikie called 'She's a lady.
Richard was to follow and gave a 'Lord of the Rings' song, a first at Lime Meadow me thinks. We also had a nod to Bob with 'Don't think twice'.
Good to see Les the Eagle and his most excellent picking style and tunings. We had an unusual song called Trincomalee and an excellent instrumental called 'Angeline the Baker'. An absolute fave of mine.
Up came Aidan and Vicky with a spoof on Ikea. a few Polkas and and a Mumford and Sonn song. All good stuff.
Second Les of the eveningwas next with his wonderful self penned songs which included 'I won't let the Devil in and 'Long Way from home.
Up came the Silver fox and picked us through Kathy's Song and a bit of Kris Kristofferson. Excellent.
GT was next and in fine fettle. I loved the Last Farewell, wonderful melody. We had a bit of Hank Locklin and Stagolee.
Paul was also in fine form with some memorable David Gates songs: Diary and Guitar Man and Everything I own. which was an instrumental. Paul also gave us an unusual version of Away in a manger.
The Pluto Swint trio were next with a great blend of Banjo and guitar. We had Love me tonight and Good to be back home agin.
Geoff was next up for it and was also up for a bit of David Gates. You wait for one and three come along together. We also had 18 Yellow Roses.
Shy (fingers) Eddie was with us and got us all going with Blue Heaven Hallelujah I love you so and the timeless Whiskey in the Jar. Eddie on lead is a joy to watch.
On came Graham with 'Your song' Someone like you and I don't like Mondays'.
Diamond Neil finished the line up with Time in a Bottle.
We had time for a few more songs chosen randomly and the evening finished.
